We standardize equipment and procedures at all GW Plastics facilities to maximize efficiency and minimize costs. And we locate close to our customers to enhance communication and just-in-time delivery. All of our standardized facilities are designed for low cost manufacturing with automated material handling systems, quick mold change systems, and automated finished goods conveying with sprue or part removal robots on every machine.
GW Plastics offers full-service engineering consultation and support from the earliest stages of conceptual product design.
Drawing on years of molding and problem-solving experience, we can often suggest design modifications to enhance moldability and optimize end-product appearance and performance.
GW engineers can also assist with material selection and prototyping, minimizing product development time and maximizing speed to market.
GW believes in building quality into our products up front where it counts, not after the fact. To help accomplish this, we assign a Quality Engineer to work with a Tooling Engineer and other members of each program team throughout the entire planning, design, mold building and mold testing cycle.
During this period, specifications such as functional testing and gauging systems are developed. Dimensional requirements, aesthetic standards and characteristics which will be monitored using statistical process control techniques are also defined. Once the mold is built, we conduct a process capability study as well as a complete inspection layout to assure that specifications and requirements are on target.
Program Management
GW Plastics excels at producing top-quality molded parts in the shortest possible time at the lowest feasible cost, regardless of technical complexity. Our dedicated program management teams utilize the latest tracking tools to achieve key milestone dates. Exceptional program management competence is one of GW Plastics' key strengths and competitive advantages.
In-House Tooling
GW Plastics is one of the few injection molding companies to offer the significant benefits of in-house mold building on a global scale. Skilled GW mold makers at our world-class tooling facilities in the United States and China, specialize in the design, construction and repair of high-precision prototype and production molds.
In-House Mold Design
Molds are designed using a Unigraphics NX2/NX3, PRO/E 3.0 Wildfire and we can work with IGES/DXF/STEP and Parasolid formats.
Using the latest flow modeling software, GW engineers can predict material flow, part shrinkage, warpage and other important variables, ensuring the highest quality molded parts.
Technology Center
Molds bound for all six GW manufacturing sites go from the Mold making Division to the GW Plastics Technology Center next door. Molds are fine tuned, documented and statistically qualified at the Tech Center , which is also used to research and commercialize new technologies that add to GW's portfolio of core capabilities.
A full range of engineering services is available from the Mold making facility and Technology Center for customers wishing to transfer existing molds. As a result, GW can provide an unsurpassed level of responsiveness and security throughout the mold transfer process.
Clean Room Molding and Assembly
By utilizing Class 8 clean rooms, GW maintains one of the lowest scrap rates in the industry - between 2 and 3 units per million - and has been awarded ship-to-stock status by many companies. Additionally, by assigning a tooling engineer as project team leader, GW Plastics helps its medical customers modify design models in either the CAD or prototype stage, thereby enabling them to save money and improve product reliability before production starts.
What this adds up to is a company not only committed to adding value to its customers' products, but one that's constantly looking for ways to do things faster, more efficiently and with greater accuracy. GW Plastics designs and manufactures every medical product as though someone's life may depend on it - because it often does.
GW Plastics, Inc. adds new LSR division:
