Gapless Radial Compression Mechanism Available in New Stent Crimping Machines

Blockwise Engineering supplies manufacturing and testing equipment for medical device manufacturers, especially makers of balloons, catheters and stents.

Blockwise's stent crimping machines are available with either of two proprietary types of radial compression mechanism: J-Crimp™ (metal dies) or Zero-G™ (plastic dies). Both provide performance not available elsewhere by addressing the problem of die-to-die gapping. Both are available as separate radial compression stations or as part of complete stent crimping machines for balloon expandable or self-expanding stents.

Blockwise's balloon wrapping (balloon folding) equipment employs a proprietary precision pleating mechanism providing the most accurate balloon cavity available. The Model G wrapper is a highly productive, semi-automated tabletop machine suitable for production or R&D use.

The model SFA high-speed marker band swaging machine is built around a proprietary, flexure-based die that closes fully with every blow. By eliminating swaging frequency as a process setting, setup is simplified and swaged diameters are extremely consistent. High productivity is the result of the highest swaging frequency in the industry.

The Wire Fatigue Tester is a rotating beam-type fatigue tester for wires or small stents with optional body-temperature water bath. Many features to simplify setup and operation make this the easiest-to-use machine of its type.

One of these features is the Blockwise MicroChuck which holds tiny products in the center as the chuck closes, dramatically easing the process of inserting and centering small-diameter products. The MicroChuck also is sold separately.

The Simpluer™ and Tube Grabber line of quick fluid connectors are designed for quick and ergonomic connection of Luer fittings or small tubing for product processing or testing.

The Laser Trimmer is a vision-guided laser cutting machine that images the struts of a covered stent, then trims the covering with a CO2 laser, leaving a user-settable margin.

The Robopulse™ pulse duplicator (or heart simulator) pumps water to simulate blood flow through test sections containing vascular devices. Arbitrary physiological flow or pressure waveforms can be easily created and change on-the-fly.

Our radial force testing equipment integrates our J-Crimp™ radial compression station with standard tensile testing machines to provide the most cost-effective way to measure stent radial strength, hoop force, or radial force.
