Sitting Pretty with Polyurethane

Thieme Corporation offers custom reaction injection molding (RIM) for medical devices and analytical instrumentation enclosures, structural parts, housings, covers bases, panels, trays, beds, bezels and doors. Thieme uses numerous polyurethane (PUR) material systems to mold large and small format parts in low annual volume quantities (1-10,000 annually). We have in-house molding capabilities which allow us to make small parts (3" x 3" x 3") to extremely large parts (6' x 6' x 3') in a single shot. Thieme is a leader in engineering RIM part solutions having developed and engineered over 4,200 RIM applications to date and is certified ISO 9001.

Our polyurethane material systems can be used to create thin walled parts that replace sheet metal or labor-intensive thermoformed or vacuum formed parts. Additionally, they can be molded using polyurethane systems, which allow the designer to have varying wall thickness from 3mm-50mm within the same part without sink or distortion. This ability promotes design freedom, insert molding utilization and allows a single to part to act as the structural element in addition to being the external aesthetic of the cover surface.

No More Sheet Metal –Mold It All In One!

Wall Thickness Variation

Large parts, rounded contours and surface definition separate this process from the more expensive injection molding and makes parts that were made using the labor intensive fiberglass lay up or thermo forming technologies, less expensive and now more repeatable.

Say Goodbye to Bonding

Thieme and the RIM process offer electronic encapsulation, insert molding, part painting, EMI shielding and post mold assembly services all in house. Complete prototype and production CAD design assistance from concept to production is available for all parts including metal to plastic conversion and new product applications/designs.

Thieme uses low-cost production tooling made of N/C cut aluminum promoting the use of function in the tool. Tooling is generally built to include function in the tool by use of sliders for molded in holes, vent slots, wire guides, bosses and other assembly aid design features.
