At Fort Wayne Metals, we never lose sight of the fact that the wire we draw will end up in medical devices that enhance life. It is this philosophy that has allowed us to grow from a small wire mill in 1970 to the market leader for precision fine wire and related products for medical products throughout the world.
Our company offers the medical device industry access to an unparalleled breadth of precision wire products, including round wire, flat wire in a variety of shapes, strands, cables, DFT®, DBS®, titanium and titanium alloys, Nitinol and a range of other alloys. Our capability to work with wire diameters as large as 10.00mm (0.394 inches) and as small as 0.0127mm (0.0005 inches) enables us to keep all of the production process in-house to provide higher quality and lower cycle-times.
To assure that our high standards are maintained at all times, we have developed a complete technical laboratory for quality control purposes. This laboratory, available for metallurgical services to our customers, can provide Metallography, Imaging Systems, Inert Gas Analysis Determination, Rotary Beam Fatigue Testing, and Differential Scanning Calorimeter (DSC) services.
While we do pride ourselves on our customer service, we know that our customers depend on us for innovative products such as our 35N LT®. This superalloy is an ideal combination of strength and corrosion resistance. It meets all chemical, mechanical and metallurgical requirements of ASTM F 562 standard with significantly greater resistance to fatigue. This allows medical device engineers to use smaller diameter wire without compromising design safety margins. Medical applications for 35N LT include leads for pacing and implantable defibrillation systems as well as implantable leads for neuromodulation and neurostimulation devices.
Fort Wayne Metals is based in Fort Wayne, Indiana with a sales office in Eindhoven, The Netherlands. We also have a 2700 m2 manufacturing and warehousing facility in Castlebar, County Mayo, Ireland.
