As a result, Carpenter has developed a number of materials that have been used throughout the medical industry.

  • BioDur® medical alloys have been used in joint replacement, fixation devices, and dental instruments, among other applications. The BioDur line offers a range of properties, depending on the specific alloy, including biocompatibility, corrosion resistance, surface condition, strength, machinability and formability. BioDur CCM Plus® alloy, manufactured using Carpenter's proprietary Micro-Melt® powder-metallurgy process, offers improved wear resistance, finer grain size and enhanced forgeability.
  • Carpenter’s Dynamet operation manufactures high-strength, lightweight titanium in various wire, bar and shaped forms to meet a variety of fabrication needs. Titanium ULTRABAR™, a new line of small-diameter titanium machining bar, imparts exceptional size consistency and straightness for higher productivity and cost savings to manufacturers making small, intricate, precision parts.

    Commitment to Innovation

Carpenter's metallurgists and research scientists work in close cooperation with medical products designers and manufacturers to continually redefine the leading edge of technology.

As medical advances demand more rigorous applications, Carpenter will provide next-generation alloys to make breakthrough medical designs a reality.
