this company's information |
Blockwise Engineering supplies manufacturing and testing equipment for medical device manufacturers, especially makers of balloons, catheters and stents.
The model SFA high-speed marker band swaging machine is built around a proprietary, flexure-based die that is designed to fully closwith every blow, even at the machine's 100 Hz swaging frequency. By eliminating swaging frequency as a process setting, setup is simplified and swaging results are much more consistent. High productivity is the result of the highest swaging frequency in the industry. The tabletop machine is very simple to set up and use, and the flexure-based die is much cleaner than competing mechanisms with sliding die segments.

The Wire Fatigue Tester is a rotating beam-type fatigue tester for wires with optional body-temperature water bath. The tabletop machine is typically used for R&D or production of nitinol wire. Many features to simplify setup and operation make this the easiest-to-use machine of its type.
One of these features is the Blockwise MicroChuck which holds tiny products in the center as the chuck closes, dramatically easing the process of inserting and centering small-diameter products. The MicroChuck is sold separately for integration into customers' equipment.

The Robopulse pulse duplicator (or heart simulator) pumps water to simulate blood flow through test sections containing vascular devices. Physiological flow or pressure waveforms can be easily created. Arbitrary reference waveforms are specified via simple spreadsheet files, and can be easily modified during machine operation. A load module simulates vascular input impedance, with compliance and flow resistance entered in standard units and easily changed on-the-fly. The system has the capacity to simulate whole-heart output to test aortic devices.

The Simpluer and Tube Grabber line of quick fluid connectors are designed for quick and ergonomic connection of Luer fittings or small tubing for product processing or testing. Air is applied to the pilot port of these connectors to create the seal and hold the product. Then the process or test fluid can be applied to the device through the main port. The connectors are designed for use as a machine component, but are also available with boxes for standalone tabletop use.

The Laser Trimmer is a vision-guided laser cutting machine that images the struts of a covered stent, then trims the covering with a CO2 laser, leaving a user-settable margin.

Blockwise is also available to invent, design, and build custom equipment to meet the most challenging medical manufacturing or testing requirements. The Blockwise team's blend of creativity, analytical engineering skills, and hands-on practicality has created a track record of successful equipment and process projects, including: catheter balloon blow molding equipment, scanning web thickness testers, stent expansion force testers, film wrapping machines, and tension-controlled dereeling equipment.
